I am trying to get the development version of anki up and running (on PC) so that I can develop an add-on. I am following this guide https://github.com/dae/anki/blob/master/README.development and have reached line 55:

" And now you're ready to run Anki:
$ ./runanki "

But I get:
'.' is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable program or batch file.

I tried wrapping in quotes but I get the same except '".\runanki"' instead of just '.'

All of the steps up to this point were successful so I don't know what is wrong.

    From https://apps.ankiweb.net/docs/addons.html:

    "No special development environment is required to develop add-ons. All you need is a text editor. If you’re on Windows or a Mac, please use the packaged version of Anki that’s provided on the website, as there are no instructions available for building it from scratch on those platforms."

    Thanks Damien. I will use that for the add-on. Still, it would be useful if I can get this development version running. It would help me a lot with learning Python and seeing how the system works.
