Adjust parameter

Hello,

Theoretically Anki should repeat a card before I forget it. After more than a year working with Anki, I'm not satisfied with Anki: there are too many cards to be learned again (50-60%, red in the statistics, see attachment). This may be due to my age.

Is it enough to set the interval modifier (log (0.9) / log (0.55) = 0.18) or should I also change other parameters (eg number of new card learning steps)?

Every brain is different. Therefore, I am convinced that the theory needs individual parameters.

I am missing an instruction on how to adjust the parameters of the spaced repetition after a while using the generated statistics.

Thanks for any hint!

Anki Manual stated that after a few weeks we should evaluate the Deck option s to our needs. Unfortunately, you are 1y late.

    1. One of the important reasons ( for failing a card) is Testing cards past Due date - the overdue cards; if the interval was 10d but you were 10d late - obviously the chances of failure is high.
For the failed cards, Anki does not take the Overdueness into account; but you could. If you accumulate too many overdue cards, there is the way to block them from mudding the Retention stats.

    2. Assuming that u are using default settings for Relearning cards, they should not be a cause of bad stats. You can verify it by looking at the "Answer buttons" chart; but first -- separate relearn cards; u=get the addon "Separate Learn and relearn cards ..."
http://prntscr.com/mxljil -- Retention charts. SAVE it as a benchmark to see if New options work as planned

    3. Mature cards amount is very low - compared to the number of reviewed cards. Change the Bonus to 100%. I assume you study ONE topic.

    4. Learning cards. Decrease the Interval Modifyer to 60%

    5. Move the overdue cards to Subdeck "Odue'.
You need the " Advanced Browser " to add some columns...

Note: I pause here to see if u are interested
