Hi,
I have a long poem that I try to memorise.
I have two version of the poem
- one which is the first letter of each word of each verse - another which is the actual verses of the poem. example of what I mean:

original verse:

1) ❖ Abiding in a mind of meditative equipoise on Approaching

He approaches the state of complete Buddhahood.

He sees the thatness of dependent arising

And through abiding in wisdom attains cessation.

first letter of words in verse:

1) ❖ A i a m o m e o A
H a t s o c B.
H s t t o d a
A t a i w a c.

i tagged it oon, c6, 001

oon = name of book
c6 = the chapter of the poam
001 = verse number

I want to convert these two lists into cards[notes?] in anki
the front will show me the first letter version that I will then type in, and the back will show me the full word version and compare it with what the answer i typed.

I have done this manually for 20 verses but i have around 200 + so it is very laborious
is there a more efficient way to create all these cards?
Also is there a way to create a review for only specific cards - e.g the cards for verses 1, 5 and 25

by the way a great tool i use for memorising is this:

    I found this
    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7708819/keep-only-first-n-chara...
    ..
To study selected cards, make a new deck and move cards there ( in Browser, button "Change deck".

    Hi Vit,
I am not sure how your link helps to quickly creates many cards.
can you shed light on the matter?
    cheers for your help

This doesn't answer your question but for learning poems the add-on Cloze Overlapper might be very useful.

I don't think that your method would work for me: When learning a poem by heart my problem is usually thinking of the next line. If during reviews I had the first letters of all words in a line then this review would be easy for me. But outside of Anki I don't have these clues.

I just found a link where they discuss how to extract the first letters from each line.
Now i was thinking you can do it easily by inserting a space after the first letter and
use Cloze deletion to cover the rest of the line::
A {{c1::biding in a mind of meditative equipoise on Approaching}} or
A {{c1::Abiding in a mind of meditative equipoise on Approaching.
    Cool ? :-)

I assumed that this card layout is for the first few reps - until you answer it correctly n - times; after that you would eliminate this prompt. And switch to what ijg suggested ( i didnt use it so i have no opinion ).

    There is also an add-on
LPCG (Lyrics/Poetry Cloze Generator) ( i didnt use it ).
