I check with my computer and it seems that Anki starts for a second and then disappears from the processes in Task Manager. I have windows btw. And I had the problem with earlier versions as well.

Please ensure you're on the latest Anki 2.1 version. Instead of running Anki directly, please use Start>Run and type cmd.exe. When a console window appears, please type

    cd \program files\anki
    anki-console

If that doesn't work, please try

    cd \program files (x86)\anki
    anki-console

Presumably Anki will fail to open like before. But it should give you some lines of debugging info; please paste what you see here.

Please give the latest beta a go (non-console version) and let me know if it doesn't fix the problem.
