+1 yeah this would be really really useful with the loads of medschool anki I review. Maybe a swipe left/right for again/good & hard press for options like going back to decks? Or flexible settings in the ankimobile app.
I read every post that is made here, and appreciate it is something some of you are quite keen on. A watch app may come in the future, but I'm afraid it's unlikely to happen in the short term, as there are other tasks that will benefit a greater number of users that need to take priority.
I'm skeptical that in the use cases commonly cited here (especially medical school students) that having ANKI on a watch is necessarily superior to or more quickly accessible than on a mobile device. Don't get me wrong - I appreciate the desire to insert ANKI into every spare moment, but I think if you really sat down and clocked how much extra time you spent on the extra time needed to use the phone version, the time savings and usability gains are largely negligible. There is of course the potential situation where a watch is preferable because using a phone would be frowned upon (for some reason checking a watch in some cases is less socially unacceptable than checking a phone).
But for learning kanji it would be great. just seeing a new card each time on a complication, or just keeping the anki app open and seeing a card each time that way. (you can actually let the watch keep an app open for more then an hour)!
sure not each deck and type would be a match, but languages would work good.
We could choose which line we want to appear as an answer in the settings of the app on the iPhone, in order to have less to show on the screen. Or maybe show only the question and being able to choose "Easy" or "i don't know" and then review the ones you don't know on the Phone in a separate list created by the card review on the watch.
Or each time you look at the watch, another word appears, if you leave the app open.
The Apple watch screen being a square and not rounded like the samsung watch, it would look better.
I would really love to see this apple watch anki app as well !! :)
These new watch versions are pretty good to read messages or even e-mails on, so I dont think short cards would be a problem to display.
Plus there is that scroll wheel which helps you to get through longer texts easily.
Please please make it happen some of my parents harangues are wayy too long, with this I could make them a bit more productive ✌️
Hi K.S. - can you please detail how you would be using ANKI on a watch? A number of people have requested this feature with general comments, but rarely has anyone articulated a use-case that's convincing. Thanks.
