Playing sound - Does it have to be automatic?

Hello Anki Community

I'd like to include sound for my French Language deck(s). If i simply put in the sound using the paperclip the sound plays automatically when the card comes up. Is it possible to include sound files that play when asked (when you click a 'play' button for example) rather than when the card comes up?

You can turn off the "automatically play audio" option in the deck's
    options (General tab).

So now i've turned off "automatically play audio" is there a way to create a 'play' button in anki or does this now come down to knowing some more html? I looked this up on 3w schools and they said it was quite complicated with html.

I had thought that audio automatically displayed a play button, but maybe
that only happens on mobile devices now that I think about it. You can
always use the "replay audio" option, though (press 'r').

It doesn't display a play button, which is a shame. I presume this means i can't include more than one audio file in card?

Just adding to Christopher's wish - I'd also love a play button on the Anki cards!

It's on the todo, but for now you can use the 'r' key or the More>Replay Audio menu item.

If i may promote myself a little, this add-on show a number of buttons, including a play button, replacing the two-click solution through the "more" button.
