Can't get "custom study with tags" to work

It never finds anything. I only get an error message: "No cards matched the criteria you provided."

This is what I do:

  1. I click my deck with all the cards
  2. I get a message saying I've studied everything and I press the Custom Study button
  3. I click "Limit to particular tags" and press OK

Now no matter what I do, when I press OK I get no cards (if I don't select any tag), or I get an error message when I select a tag saying that nothing matched even though I have cards with the tag I select. I have checked "Require one or more of these tags" and I have only selected the "verb" tag in that box, and nothing else. I have not excluded any tags (nothing selected).

I have almost 200 notes with that tag. But Anki can't find anything. Of course the browser shows all the notes with tag:verb.

I tried AnkiDroid too but for some reason I can only enter digits, not letters, so I can't select any tag.

If you add 'deck:[name of the deck]' to the search for the tag in the browser, do they still come up?

The 'limit to tags' option will only show cards that are new or are
ready to review. If you wish to study cards before they are due,
you'll need to use a different custom study option, and then manually
add a tag limit to the options. There is a ticket on the issue tracker
about allowing both at once in the future.
