Using information in note to power multiple decks?

I think I have a misunderstanding of how Anki works that I can't seem to figure out from the manual/web. Is it possible to use one note to supply information to multiple decks?

For example,
If I have a note called "U.S States" that has fields for State Capitals, Flowers, Flags, etc with a primary key/field of state name; can I use that one note to make multiple decks? One deck for capitals, one deck for state flowers and so on. I would like to avoid having all the information lumped into one big deck, but would also not like to make one note for every deck.

Is there a way to do this?

*Also, what is the benefit of nesting decks? Would this help me in any way? I could have a deck called U.S state facts with capitals, flags, state flowers, etc. as sub decks for organization.

Thanks for all the help!

Yes, turn on the More → Deck Override option on the appropriate card in the card types window.

Nesting decks is mostly an organizational tool, although it can also help you prioritize cards if you study from the top-level deck, as cards will be shown from the subdecks in sequence.
