"hide a desk"

I'm wondering how we can hide a desk. I didn't find it in the User's manual but maybe I didn't search enough. I tried to delete a desk, thinking that it still would be in my Anki folder in "my documents" but I couldn't find it again.

So here are my two questions:

  1. Is it possible to hide a desk, without deleting it? (I've got desks I had to use for an exam, I don't use them anymore but I don't want to delete them)

  2. Where does the program save the desk? Does it save it on the computer, so I can import it, like we did with Anki 1?

Thank you for your help and for this very useful program!

    (a deck, not a desk)

    • You can have all the used decks under a common root deck, and the unused ones under another root deck.
    • Or you can export the unused deck into an .apkg file. Statistics of the cards that have been deleted before the export will probably stay in the collection and will not be exported.

Decks are saved in Documents/Anki/profile name into the collection.anki2 file. If you want to export a single deck to give it to someone else, you can export as an apkg file from File -> Export.

So all my decks are saved in one documents is that right?

And about what Aleksej said: it's not possible to hide one deck, but I can export it as an .apkg file and save it in theanki folder, so i can delete it from the collection?

DerWelsche: Yes, all decks are saved in one document. That is one way to hide one deck; the other involves stacking it under another deck (I prefer that way, myself). Here's a new article for further information and future reference:
