    EDIT:
In Anki preferences, change "Strip HTML...." to false (unchecked). From word you should be able to copy-paste directly into the Anki add window.

---Old message below for historical purposes--- If I had to do something like this I would either
    1) Google for a tool to convert word files to html. Browse the source to find the HTML for the table

or perhaps better yet (what I would likely do),
    2) copy the table to excel (MS word to MS excel usually works well). From excel if everything looks okay then Save As -> Publish as Web Page. Would browse resulting HTML file for the exact source of the table and copy-paste that into Anki.

For sufficiently small tables it would probably be easier to build the tables from scratch and format as necessary within Anki. There are many tools online (Google "HTML table generator") that will do the table HTML for you.

(If you go the direct HTML route, you will need to open the HTML editor with Ctrl-Shift-X or by clicking the more arrow at the end of the toolbar in order to paste it in correctly.)

Thanks. This was very helpful and, more importantly, it worked.

    Hi Damien,

Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and expertise re Anki. This was by far the easiest fix to my dilemma and I'll use this solution going forward.

    Thanks again.

    Michael
