Dear Anki Support,

When I downloaded the new version of Anki, I forgot to delete my old version and the two files interfered with each other. I then went into my program files and deleted both versions of Anki. When I redownloaded Anki, I am still getting an error message that reads "Anki was unable to open your collection file." I attached a picture of the error message. When I opened my backup, I got an error message that read "Unable to move existing file to trash - please try restarting your computer." This continued even after I restarted my computer. I greatly appreciate your help!

Thank you,
Theodore Longlois

    Hi Theodore,

That message looks like you're trying to open your collection in an older Anki version. Please make sure you're opening the latest version, and not some other older version you may have installed on your computer.

From the profiles screen, please create a new profile, open it, then go to the Help>About screen and double check that the version does say 2.1.26

I had downloaded the 2.1.22 version. I deleted it and downloaded the 2.1.26
version and it worked now. Thank you so much for your help!
